A car prking space is included with some apartments (an original extra cost circa £15,000).
Developer
David Wilson Homes’ reputation was historically built upon four, five and six bedroom executive homes. In responding to changing population demographics and government planning policy the Company has, for a number of years, successfully expanded its portfolio to include a greater proportion of smaller homes including apartments and townhouses.
A customer-centric approach has been at the heart of the Company’s success for over 40 years. At every stage of the homebuilding process, from designing and planning to the final finishing touches, the Company keeps in mind the emotional and practical priorities of the people who will be living in their properties.
David Wilson Homes’ acknowledged expertise, its skilled staff and established business partnerships, coupled with a progressive approach, combine to sustain a high reputation in the sector.
The History
This area was once a royal manor, so the name is thought to come from the Saxon kyning-tun, (the town or place of the king). The Doomsday Book (1086) records that the manor was owned by one Theodoric, a goldsmith, by grant from Edward the Confessor.

The Black Prince once had a palace here hence Black Prince Road. As Duke of Cornwall, the present day Prince of Wales still owns much of the land and some of the houses in Kennington. South of Kennington Park where St Marks Church now stands is the site of Surrey gallows (the whole area formed part of the County of Surrey until the formation of the London County Council).
Those executed included some of the Jacobites following their trial in 1746. The last person executed was that of a forger in the early 19th century.

Metro Kennington is within the London Borough of Lambeth.
Transport

Why London?
Supply and demand - Research shows that there is an ever growing demand for property. People marry later, divorce rates have risen, the workforce is transient and the labour market has become more international.
- London accounts for 63% of the natural increase in England’s population and 60% of net inward migration from overseas
- London is a ‘mega-city’ with a population of 18 million people, nearly a third of the UK total. Prospering cities in the North such as Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh, are dwarfed by London’s scale, influence and reach
At the same time house building is at its lowest level for over 70 years and falls short of increasing demand. By 2016 it is projected that a further 810,000 people will live in London (The London Plan, GLA).
Winning the bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games will further boost property values in London. New research published by Halifax shows that the property prices of the previous four host cities increased by more than their national average over the five-year period in the run-up to the Olympic Games (the time when most development work takes place). Average house prices in the host nations rose by 47% in the preceding 5 years, compared to a massive 66% rise in the host cities themselves.
